Since 1996, Designscapes, Inc. has offered residential and commercial clients our services of site evaluation, landscape design, bid solicitation, and project management of landscape installations. Our clients have the option of choosing any or all of these services at an hourly rate. Our two registered landscape architects, Patrick Sellenraad and Dan Haubenstricker, have over 45 years of combined experience. Our goal is to go beyond just site enhancement. We will find solutions to your site problems that look good and fit your budget. Past clients have found our ability to solve problems and reach a consensus from divergent viewpoints very valuable.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Commercial projects: Projects vary in size from small professional office buildings to major retail operations and industrial sites. Project complexity has ranged from simple plantings to complete site planning, including ponds and waterfalls. Design considerations have been overall aesthetics, maintenance, pedestrian and vehicular circulation. Completed projects range in size from $15,000.00 to over $500,000.00.

Residential landscapes: Past projects have included water features, decks, paving bricks, terracing, retaining walls, decorative bridges, landscape irrigation and lighting. Site types range from wooded lots to lakeside property. The size of completed projects ranges from $5000.00 to over $200,000.00.

Other projects: Entrances and signage for businesses and subdivisions (both gated and non-gated communities); memorials for veterans and police.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
Frankenmuth Planning Commission since 2000.

Frankenmuth Parks and Recreation board member 1990 to 2000. Coordinated volunteers for replanting of Frankenmuth’s rose garden and over four hundred street trees after they were destroyed by a tornado in 1996.

Created a guide book for significant trees in Frankenmuth, helping Frankenmuth earn a ‘Tree City USA’ designation.

Memberships: American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA), Partnership for the Saginaw Bay Watershed, Home Builders Association of Saginaw,

Design of seasonal flower displays using annuals, tropical plants, and perennials.

Project management and organization: follow-up of project change orders, problem resolution, maintenance of project files and documentation.

Overseas study: Five visits to southern Germany to explore traditional landscapes and gardens in both rural and urban settings.
